FAQ’s

  • Psychological testing involves the use of standardized assessments to better understand an individual’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. It can help clarify diagnoses, identify patterns of strengths and weakness, and provide a more complete picture of how someone thinks, feels, and functions.

Psychological testing may be helpful if you are seeking to:

    • Clarify or rule out mental health diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD, among others

    • Better understand your strengths, vulnerabilities, and patterns of behavior

    • Gain insight into factors affecting school, work, or relationships

    • Inform personalized treatment, educational, or intervention planning

Results from psychological testing can guide more targeted and effective recommendations, helping ensure that supports and interventions are well-matched to your unique needs.

    • The testing process includes 3 phases:

      • Intake: the evaluator will gather a thorough background history for you/your child to inform the evaluation. This usually takes about an hour and is conducted virtually. Depending on the age of your child or family dynamic (if applicable), the evaluator may request to complete multiple intakes sessions.

      • Testing: you/your child will meet with the evaluator to complete various assessments.

        • Testing generally occurs over the course of 1-2 separate appointments, at about 2-4 hours per session. Timing varies, and the evaluator will work with you to determine testing sessions.

        • If applicable, the evaluator will also request informant, parent and teacher questionnaires to be completed.

      • Feedback: Once the evaluator has completed their analysis of the data and written the report (usually about 3-4 weeks from the initial testing session), they will contact you to schedule a time to meet with you to review the findings, diagnoses (if applicable), and appropriate interventions

        • This appointment usually takes about an hour and can be done virtually or in person, depending on the evaluator’s availability.

        • You will receive a signed copy following the appointment for your records.

    • A full comprehensive evaluation costs $3,200. We are in-network with BCBS PPO and Aetna plans. Insurance coverage is based on your individual plan and time spent towards the evaluation. Please contact your insurance provider to verify your testing benefits and coverage prior to beginning the evaluation.

      • Please note that many insurances do not cover the cost of academic achievement testing. If deemed necessary by the evaluator or requested by client/caregiver, each hour of the academic achievement testing will be billed out of pocket at the clinician’s hourly rate.

      • We also charge a $150 materials fee, which is not covered by insurance.
