Dr. Hannah Carl and Dr. Katie McGowan began Northside Psychology Services in order to help clients without experiencing burnout or resentment due to the confines and expectations of working for someone else. Their mission as employers is to provide a work environment that prioritizes the therapist. By supporting their employees’ autonomy, time off, and basic human needs (health insurance, evenings to spend with their families or pursuing their hobbies), they ensure every client who comes through their practice is receiving care from therapists at their best. We offer a split fee model, where you make 57% of your total revenue the first year, and then 60% after that. The rest is used to pay business expenses, cover the cost of your benefits package, and support for administrative and owner duties. We will always be transparent with you about where your money is going.

With an expected caseload of 20 client/hours a week for full time employees, you are free to create your own schedule to work when you want, how you want. We have no expectation that you see clients in person vs. telehealth or at certain times of the day or week. That is entirely up to you.

We offer several health and dental insurance plans with BlueCross BlueShield for full time employees. We pay 50% of your premium.

6 weeks annual PTO at a rate of up to 20 hours/week, depending on average caseload.

Up to 3% matching to a SIMPLE IRA and access to a financial advisor through the business.

$400 annually for continuing education.

We will not ask you to sign a non-compete or non-solicitation agreement. We believe in client autonomy and the client-therapist relationship above profit. You are free to take your clients with you or work at another practice whenever you choose. If you are inspired by our model and want to open your own practice, we will support you in doing so.

Any unused expenses (e.g., CEU credits, PTO, or retirement matching) can be paid out to you as a bonus at the end of the year.
Any intellectual property you create while working for us is yours, not ours.
Dr. Carl and Dr. McGowan are available for clinical consultation and supervision, as needed. We believe licensed mental health providers can manage their own clinical work without oversight.
