Trauma Therapy Services

The effects of a traumatic event or complex trauma can touch every aspect of our lives—from how we connect with others, to the way we think and feel, to how connected we are to our own bodies. Working with a therapist can help reduce these symptoms and support us in (re)connecting with ourselves, our values, and our loved ones.

Northside Psychology Services offers experienced, compassionate male and female clinicians who are certified in providing evidence-based treatments for trauma and PTSD, including EMDR and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a structured, evidence-based treatment that uses talk therapy, worksheets, and between-session practice to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that may have developed after trauma. CPT supports clients in examining how their experiences have shaped their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world, and in shifting those beliefs toward more realistic, adaptive, and supportive ways of thinking.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that uses bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, tapping, or sound—to help the brain process and reduce distress associated with traumatic memories. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR places greater emphasis on mind-body connection and allows clients to draw on their own experiences to shift emotional responses and internal belief systems toward more adaptive ways of living.
